Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists are Registered Radiologic Technologists with specialized training who use a rotating x-ray unit and sophisticated computers to obtain detailed, cross-sectional images of patient anatomy. The images can demonstrate tissue, bones, organs, and blood vessels. The CT technologist prepares images for use by physicians in diagnosing medical conditions. CT imaging can also be used with biopsies, treatment planning, or interventional procedures. The CT technologist is responsible for imaging, patient care, equipment operation, and safety for both patients and personnel.

In addition to completing the application process for admission to Ãå±±½ûµØ, students seeking admission to the Computed Tomography Certificate program must complete the program application by July 1. Applications are accepted March 15 - July 1 annually. Applications received after July 1 may be considered on a space-available basis.

Applicants must be graduates of an accredited Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine, or Radiation Therapy program and eligible for or certified/registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Transcripts and copies of credentials/certifications are required.

Admission to the program is not guaranteed. Class size is limited. The class will be filled with candidates on a first-qualified (all requirements completed), first-admitted basis.

The Computed Tomography Technical Certificate is embedded within the Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science, General Studies area of emphasis. Courses in this certificate may be used to award these degrees.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, the graduate will have developed the skills, knowledge, and abilities to accomplish the following:

1. Demonstrate the knowledge and skill development to competently perform diagnostic imaging procedures.
2. Demonstrate radiation protection methods.
3. Ascertain appropriate skills to perform computed tomography.
4. Identify appropriate radiation protection practices.
5. Be eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Computed Tomography Exam).
